Health personnel in Ashanti trained on regenerative health  November 23, 2009
Kumasi, Nov. 20, GNA – Mr Keck Osei, Programme Officer, Regenerative Health and Nutrition, Ghana Health Service (GHS), has said it was important to be mindful of one’s eating habits to stay healthy and avoid diseases.

He blamed the upsurge in hypertension, diabetes and cancer related deaths in the country on bad eating life styles. He was addressing the closing session of a three-day training workshop on regenerative health for selected personnel of the GHS drawn from all the 27 districts in the Ashanti Region.

Regenerative health involves eating the right diet, getting enough rest, regular exercises and the keeping of clean environment. He said the GHS was shifting its focus from curative to preventive health practice.

Mr Reuben Bedzrah, Ashanti Regional Officer for Regenerative Health, said eating the right diet would help to save cost and enhance national productivity. He called on health personnel to lead the crusade to change in unhealthy lifestyles in the country.

Mrs Veronica Akpetogbo, the National Coordinator, said doctors and nurses would be trained to support the education of the people and underscored the need for health facilities to appoint focal persons for the programme in all the district
