President Mills at 64th Remembrance Day
President John Evans Atta Mills today joined the Ghana Armed Forces to commemorate the 64th Remembrance Day Service at the Christianborg war cemetery at Osu.
The Remembrance Day is celebrated annually to honour the gallant soldiers who lost their lives during the first and second world wars. The solemn ceremony was attended by Ministers of State, MPs, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, senior security officers and traditional rulers.
President Mills laid the first wreath on behalf of the people of Ghana. On behalf of the Commonwealth and Allied countries, the second wreath was laid by the British High Commissioner to Ghana, Dr. Nicholas WestCott.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Peter Augustine Blay, also laid a wreath on behalf of the Ghana Armed Forces while the Chairman of the Veterans Association of Ghana, Air Vice Marshall Odartey Banner, laid one on behalf of the Veterans Association of Ghana.
President Mills later signed the Remembrance Book at the Memorial Ark located in the Christianborg War Cemetery.
