Cadbury Donates To Ghana Navy

cadburyCADBURY GHANA Limited has recently donated assorted products and cash to the Ghana Navy in support of its 50th Anniversary Celebrations.

As part of the ongoing Ghana Navy @ 50 celebrations, various activities including route marches, open days, boat regattas, among others had been earmarked to commemorate the Jubilee celebrations.

In a short ceremony held at the Navy Headquarters at Burma Camp in Accra, James Boateng, the Managing Director of Cadbury, pledged his company’s commitment in supporting security agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment for businesses to grow.

Mr. Boateng said the relevance of the Ghana Navy in policing the territorial waters of the country could not be overlooked.

Cadbury, which had sourced Ghana’s cocoa for more than 100 years, recently launched its Cadbury Cocoa Partnership (CPP) – a £45 million investment in cocoa growing communities over 10 years, which includes a £30 million fund for the country.

Last July, Cadbury gained Fairtrade certification for one of their chocolate brands that was produced with Ghana’s cocoa.

The company would pay a premium on such cocoa sold through the Fairtrade process.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ghana Navy, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Matthew Quashie, thanked the management of Cadbury Ghana Limited for their kind gesture.

He explained that the Navy was committed to fighting crime in the country’s offshore, promising a sound working relationship between the two entities.
