About 35 people mainly made up of women and children have been injured during a stampede at an ANC Rally at Chatsworth Stadium in South Africa.

According to a report the twenty thousand seater venue was packed to capacity, with more than 50 buses bringing supporters from all parts of the province to hear party President Jacob Zuma speak.

During the rally the ANC Kwazulunatal Secretary, Senzo Mchunu invited few spectators to sit inside the stadium’s centre arena this led to chaos when a crowd of supporters pushed down a section of the barricade trying to get access to the centre arena.  This lead to some people being trampled upon and others being pushed.
