Board of Six Health Institutions inaugurated

ghana-nursesThe Board of Governors of six health training institutions in the Western Region have been inaugurated.  They are the Nursing and Midwifery Training Schools in Sekondi and Tarkwa, the Community Health Nurses Training School at Essiama and the Health Assistance Training Schools at Sefwi Wiawso.

The Supervising High Court Judge in Sekondi, Mr. Justice Reuben Batu administered the Oath of allegiance, official oath and oath of secrecy to them.

In an address, the Regional Minister Paul Evans Aidoo, said, one pressing issue that should engage the attention of the boards should be to expand the infrastructure of the institutions to absorb the many qualified applicants who are turned down due to limited infrastructure.

He asked nurses to address their grievances through dialogue and not industrial action. They should also accept postings to the rural areas because it is through the toil and sweat of people in these communities that nurses are trained.

Mr. Evans Aidoo urged administrators of the health training institutions to inculcate the spirit of nationalism, patriotism and dedication to duty in their studies so that, they would see their call as service to humanity but not an avenue for amassing wealth.
