Forum held to improve Local Government System

coat of armThe Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council has met with local heads and opinion leaders in the various districts and towns to deliberate and make proposals to improve the Local Government system in Ghana.

The forum has already been held in three regions to collate ideas from the public, to be drafted into a framework and presented to government for implementation.  The framework will contain experiences, good practices and priorities shared by different regions with a view to making decentralization more effective.

Speaking at the forum, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Armah Ashitey noted that even though decentralization is enshrined in the 1992 Constitution, the concept is not defined.
