The Bodies of six Ghanaians killed in the Gambia were brought to Accra last night.  They were accompanied by a four-member delegation from the Gambia led by the Gambian Health Minister, Dr. Jallow Marietou.

The arrival of the six bodies is as a result of series of negotiations between Ghana and Gambia over the killing of forty-four Ghanaians on the 23rd of July, 2005 while passing through Gambia in search of greener pastures else where.  The survivor, Martin Kyere reported the murder to the Ghana Government which the Gambia denied.

ECOWAS and the United Nations put up a fact-finding team whose report recommended that the bodies should be exhorted and given a decent burial on their home soil.

Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Alhaji Mohamed Mumuni was at the Air Force Base in Accra to receive the bodies.  Alhaji Mumuni expressed gratitude to ECOWAS and the UN for helping to get the bodies.
