THE NORTHERN Regional Police Commander, ACP Awuni Angwubutoge, over the weekend threw a big party for men and women under his command in recognition of the various roles they played in ensuring an incident-free by-election in Chereponi.

Service men and women from the Northern Regional Police Command were treated to sumptuous meals and music by a live police band from Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region. Addressing the Command, Mr. Awuni reiterated the need for more personnel in the region in view of the fact that the region was the most challenging in the country.

He mentioned the numerous conflicts and political turmoil as some of the teething challenges that had put security personnel in the region on a high alert underscoring the need for his men to be disciplined to confront these challenges head on.

ACP Awuni indicated that neatness, punctuality, alertness on duty and obedience to lawful orders among others needed to be given topmost priority in the service in the attainment of its set goals and objectives, entreating the divisional commanders to wage a relentless war against indiscipline to restore the confidence of the public in the police.

He warned deviant personnel who engaged in acts of extortion from both complainants and suspects, as his outfit was not in any way going to shield any aberration within all ranks.

On recent target of police by armed robbers, he directed all superior officers to on a regular basis organize parades and sensitize their men on developing issues or new robbery tactics adopted by miscreants.

While commending them for their support in reducing the number of robberies including the arrest of Johnson Kombian, the notorious armed robber and his accomplices, he appealed to his men to step up their performance in chalking other successes in the region.
