Some buried details of the classy birthday bash organized in August for Ghanaian singer, Rebecca Acheampong otherwise known as Becca, on her 24th birthday celebration at the plush ‘Sweetie’s’ Night Club at the Airport Hills in Accra, are beginning to make themselves palpable.
NEWS-One has gathered that City People Media Group, the Nigerian outfit which organized the celebrity flooded and widely publicized birthday party, spent over $15,000 on the party, something which its Ghanaian counterparts would hesitate to do.
Even though the paper’s sources are very reliable, Mr. Tope Aileru, the company’s representative in Ghana failed to confirm or deny the figure when contacted on telephone. “I can’t give you the exact amount that the party cost but definitely we can’t do a party for free,” the party, which attracted hordes of celebrities among whom were Ghanaian goddess of the screens Jackie Appiah, Majid Michel, Nollywood’s Ramsey Noah, Samini, VIP, 4×4, Doreen Andoh and producer-turned-actor Fred Nuamah, was said to be an extraordinary bash.
Tope Aileru told NEWSONE that Becca is the next African singer to liberate African music on the international scene; hence his outfit’s (which owns five different magazines in Nigeria) decision to be associated with her.“We deal with the public and we see it as our responsibility to celebrate people who the public celebrates. We have done it for several Nigerian stars like P-Square, D’Banj, 9ice and a number of Nollywood actresses. Becca is our first in Ghana. This certainly would not be the last. Becca, I must emphasize, has a great talent which is going to transcend African music beyond the shores of Ghana and Africa as a whole.”
