Ghana midfielder Michael Essien is confident the Black Stars can win their fifth African Cup of Nations title next year.

The West Africans sealed a smooth passage to the tournament, to be held in Angola, last week after topping Group D of the qualifiers.

Ghana also grabbed their 2010 World Cup ticket thanks to their emphatic group success as they did they not even conceded a goal.

With the vigorous form of the Black Stars during the second phase of the qualifiers, the Chelsea star is confident they can win their first continental title since 1982.

“I am delighted that we are going to the World Cup again and this is even more special because it is the first on African soil,” Essien said on his personal website http://www.michaelessiengh.com http://www.michaelessiengh.com/ .

“It was brilliant playing in Germany at the last World Cup and it will be a dream to do it all over again in South Africa come 2010.

“We have also qualified for the African Cup in Angola and we will be heading there full of confidence, hoping to win the tournament.”

The Black Stars have won the African Cup of Nations title four times and their last continental success was in Libya in 1982.
