My father was killed out of fear –Afrifa.

The article discussed statements made by Henry Amankwaa Afrifa, the son of the late A.A Afrifa, former head of state of Ghana. During recent 29th anniversary, Henry Afrifa says his father was killed out of fear by the leaders of the AFRC and sympathized his father’s death as the only member of the 1966 coup makers who didn’t die naturally. He therefore appealed to Ghanaians not to vote the NDC back to power to avoid the celebration of the June 4th .

How do the people of Ghana feel about this?

The above result indicates that 76%, the majority of respondents, don’t regret the death of  Henry’s  late father at all, but rather blamed him to be part of our economic problems today. While 16% of Ghanaians sympathized with his father’s death and accused the leadership of the AFRC for it

Sue Rawlings if you can and see what the courts will say.

The source of Ghana’s problems could be traced directly to the doorsteps of Afrifa and Kotoka! Believe it or not, the conduct, greed and arrogance of these two morons are the source of the power struggle between Ashantis and Ewes today!

They portrayed themselves in the sixties as best of friends and messiahs–but Afrifa had a very sneaky ambitions–of stealing as much as he could acquired in those days!

Sometimes, I just can’t comprehend the hypocrisy of some Ghanaians–especially our govts! Afrifa and Kotoka were nothing but traitors! Traitors who allowed themselves to be used by the CIA—by introducing an illegal uprising in our country— thus rendering our doom yet they seem to be the most adorable individuals in the history of our country!

Why should the only international gateway to our country be named after a traitor like Kotoka?

We claim coup plots need to be seen as treason in our society yet those who introduced us to it are being adored as messiahs!

Okatakyie or what ever you call yourself, if you do not know let me tell you the genesis of the under development and the problems of this country and africa are as the result of the senseless and greedy coup detat of your father, kotoka and the busia danquah tradition.

Do you have the idea of people who lost their lives in that coup? are they not human beings just as your father? have you found out why your father wrote to General Acheampong, prophesying to him that if he did not change his ways , one day a young soldier would line them up and shoot all of them? Perhaps he realised his mistake and misdeeds for curtailing our development process under osagyefo president Nkrumah but it was too late. Are you aware, that coup detats were introduced in Ghana and Africa by your dad and his cronies? Are you aware that executions by firing squard was also introduced by your dad and his men? Do you remember Lt. Arthur and Yeboah? You see it is rather unfortunate that your dad eneded his life this way I am not the least saying I am happy about it but you see, he fell on his own sword.

Ama you give me the impression that you were a little baby girl when our true soldiers staged the coup that ended the despotic rule of Kwame Nkrumah and his CPP. Kotoka and Afrifa’s coup was the most rational in our political history ,the most popular and one staged by truely disciplined soldiers. These gallant soldiers of ours did not go about beating, maiming and in several cases, killing innocent civilians. What really did the killing of people like Afrifa, Quartey, Amedome, Utuka, Akuffo, Boakye and co achieve.Yes,in Afrifa’s coup people may have died but these were soldiers or security police who died in persuit of their duty. How do you in your honest thoughts justify the killing of the Judges for instance?People, it is good for us all to forget about our painful past and join hands to steer Ghana into a better democracy but PLEASE Ama let us avoid twisting facts,TRUE SOLDIERS DO NOT GO ABOUT MOLESTING CIVILIANS.Afrifa and co never did that!!!!!

Your father sold Ghana to the C.I.A. who organized the first coup that sent our Great Leader Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah into exile where he met his death. He was also involved in the planning and the assassination of Gen. E.K. Kotoka. The last person Ghanaians will cry for is your Brutus Father Afrifa. Go bury your skeletons and leave us in peace.

“when Nkrumah illegally amended the constitution …… with the help of his majority in parliament”
This is partially untrue and at best a lame argument for justification of the subversionist crimes of Afrifa, Kotoka and Co.

Nkrumah did not illegally amend the constitution. The law on amendment was passed and enacted by a legal Parliament and if you have a problem with the fact that the CPP had majority in parliament, then you have a problem with understanding democracy.

You may want to recall (or know) that the UP, in frustration, tried everything from bombing, intimidation, calls for seccession, etc. and lastly the vast campaign for boycotting of the 1965 elections and referendum; resulting in the significant CPP majority in Parliament.

Unfortunately, this calumnious attempt to portray the initiators of our woes (Afrifa, Kotoka, Harley, etc) as redeemers is repeated so often that some people including scholars even believe in it.

You have forgotten to tell Ghanaians that your Father used Authur and Yeboah to kill Kotoka under false promises to protect and homour them. He then went ahead in awarding them by killing them at firing squad. One of these guys was looking after a nephew in school at the time. That nephew grew up became a military officer and took adavantage of the opportunity to seek revenge. Ghanaians had enough of the payback so don’t rub salt in the wounds of thousands by cliaming your father was great and people were afaraid of him so they killed him.

Dr. Nkrumah died in pain with his heart bleeding. The man who stood up and fought against white man’s oppression and made we Ghanaians a proud first sub sahara African nation to gain freedom died painfully in exile.Who is the cause?Afrifa. What is your mind telling you?that Nkrumah did not place a curse?before you blame somebody go into Afrifa’s history and how his selfishness brought punishment to millions of ghanaians.

AAH MAN U ARE GOOD TO SAY THAT FOR THE WICKED HERO..AFRIFFA. HE IS ONE OF THE MOST WICKED PERSON THE COUNTRY HAS EVER HAVE.DO U KNOW THAT HE WAS SENT TO LEARN HOW TO PROTECT THE COUNTRY /GHANA/BUT HE CME OUT TO FIGHT HIS MASTER.HOW CAN HE DO ? LOOK MR JJ U ARE GOOD…KILL HIM SECOND TIME…WHAT DID ASHANTI PEOPLE SAID WHEN HE OVER THROW DR.? SO U BETTER KEEP QUIET .OK

DO SAY THAT..WE GHANAIAN SHOULD PUT UR FATHER IN TOP.

I think K4 released the body of afrifa because he (k4) don’t want to spend more money to buy chemicals to feed the dead body or he just want to create a space for his (k4) own body after Prof. Atta Mills nomination as next president

Afrifa is a coup maker together with Busia, Danquah, Nana Prempeh the Asantehene, and Baffour Osei Akoto, the Chairman of the NLM( The geneses of coup de etet if Ghana.). Afrifa was never a politician, he was never a leader and never was he a member of any political party. He was a solgier. He was a gready military zealot and a hypocrite and was killed by his own mates

If you live by the sword, you die by the sword. Na so I see am.

I am very sad to read what some people think about the GENERAL. He was a man for democracy, he fought for freedom and justice that we are enjoying today.People should read more about Ghana´s independence before, after and before 1966.Who brought Nkrumah back to Ghana and what happened to them.Let us praise him.He deserved to be honored.GENERAL A.A.AFRIFA WAS A BRAVE MAN. May the almighty GOD BLESS HIS SOUL.He was a great man and he deserved to be given the title OKATAKYIE AKWASI AMANKWAA AFRIFA.The only OKATAKYIE WE HAVE IN THE WORLD.
